Building a latency experiment when the fast feeds are geo-blocked

Binance and Bybit WebSockets are not reachable from Nigeria, so the prediction-market bot runs on CoinGecko. This entry asks what that does to a strategy built on speed.

Trading systems · On-chain

The prediction-market bot looks for a lag between crypto spot prices and Polymarket prices. The obvious reference feed is an exchange WebSocket, but Binance and Bybit block connections from Nigeria. CoinGecko works, so the bot uses it.

Open questions

  • If the reference price is itself delayed, what does a measured “lag” actually mean?
  • Which results from this setup would still hold with a faster feed?
